USDT & USDC Freeze Check

A freeze check reads the token issuer's own on-chain blacklist to see whether an address is blocked from moving the token; Plastron reads USDT and USDC live on Ethereum, and USDT on Tron.

What this page answers, and what it does not

This is a single factual lookup: we call the token contract and report what its blacklist says. It is not a risk assessment, not a judgement about whoever holds the address, and not a check against any other list. If the contract does not answer, we say so rather than guessing — an unreadable answer is never reported as a clear one.

Questions

What does it mean for an address to be frozen?

Tether and Circle can add an address to a blacklist held inside the token contract itself. Once it is on that list, transfers of that token from the address revert on-chain. The coins stay where they are, but they cannot be moved, and no exchange or wallet can override it.

Is an issuer freeze the same as an OFAC sanction?

No. They are separate, and this page only reads the first. An OFAC listing is a government designation published by a sanctions authority; an issuer freeze is a private decision by Tether or Circle, enforced by their own contract. The two often overlap, but neither implies the other, and an address can carry one without the other.

Which chains and tokens does this cover?

USDT and USDC on Ethereum, and USDT on Tron. Those are the blacklists we can read directly from the token contract. Bitcoin and Solana are not covered here: Bitcoin has no issuer blacklist at all, and we do not yet read Solana's SPL freeze authority.

Does a "not on the blacklist" answer mean the address is safe?

No, and we deliberately do not use that word. This page reads exactly one list and reports exactly what it says. An address can be absent from every issuer blacklist and still be linked to theft, sanctions or fraud. For that wider question, run the address through the main Plastron scan instead.

Do I need an account?

No. This check is free and anonymous, with no sign-in and no email, and it does not consume any scan allowance. It answers one factual question and returns the answer.
